Created on February 28th, 2008, by Matt Jones, this site is dedicated to bringing Alaska news, media, and links that bring more awareness to environmental and political issues that rarely get a fair assessment by the Anchorage Daily News and Fairbanks News-Miner.  Alaska-targeted oil and mining interests regularly have headlining PR pieces in these papers that serve to largely shape resident opinions as the only sources of media for most Alaskans.  Continuing state political corruption investigations have shaken the stability of this great state and the broad extent of the corruption must be credited, in large part, to the mainstream media’s inability to be critical of, or not pander to, resource extraction industries.  With some of the largest tracts of wilderness and unrivaled populations of fish and game at risk, we believe the stakes are much higher than these papers are willing to admit.  Please bookmark us with your other sources of news.  Please contact News from the North with any suggestions, comments, criticism, or submissions here: newsfromthenorth@gmail.com  or in the comment section below.
